The Child and Family Center is funded by research grants through
various branches of the National Institutes of Health: National
Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse
and Alcoholism, and National Institute of Mental Health.
Our funding primarily covers direct research. Once staff at CFC have gathered
and analyzed the data, it is disseminated via peer-reviewed journals, psychology
and social science conferences, psychology and other scientific publications.
Training and educational materials are an inevitable result of our interventions
and findings. These materials can go a long way toward prevention of adolescent
drug and alcohol abuse, if we are able to produce and share them with school personnel,
educators, prevention scientists, direct-service providers, and even parents.
However, with our funding tightly budgeted for research, we lack fiscal resources
for developing these training and educational materials.
Through the generosity of others who care about today’s youth and how
they will progress into their roles as tomorrow’s leaders, CFC can make
significant strides in sharing our methods and findings to both the scientific
community and treatment providers who work with the general public. If you are
interested in helping us pass along the successful interventions that have worked
in our current intervention trials, we welcome your financial donation in any
dollar amount.
