Allison Caruthers received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology in 2005 from the University of Michigan and is a research associate at the Child and Family Center. Dr. Caruthers is project director for Project Alliance 1 and 2. Her research centers on adolescent gender and sexual socialization and their relationship to sexual behavior, sexual risk taking, and emotional well being in adolescence and adulthood. She is currently exploring theories and research in other domains of adolescent risk behavior to enrich understanding of the distinction between normal, healthy sexual exploration and truly problematic behavior. She is also examining possible mechanisms by which CFC intervention services reduce risky sexual behavior.
